- : : Here are some tips for extending the life of an MPS-801 printer ribbon
- : : many-fold. When your ribbon is printing too lightly after extended use,
- : : do the following:
-
- : Hehehe...
-
- : That's a very neat and slick trick, especially your tip #1.
- : Definitely not something I would have thought of.
- : Many thanks for sharing.
-
- : I've never actually had to do anything to extend the life of my printer
- : ribbon because all along I've been using a KXP 1080i, where the printer
- : ribbons are still on sale for $10 each.
-
- : I only recently acquired a MPS-801 printer when I got my 2nd commodore 128
- : computer as part of the package. ;-))
-
- : Tip #2, reinking the ribbon, may not be too practical. It might be a
- : little too costly, and you better be careful which reinking solution you
- : choose.
-
- : My tip for someone else was to buy a ribbon for some other junkie printer,
- : other than an MPS-801, and take it out physically from the plastic
- : cartidge. Then replace this new ribbon into your MPS-801 printer cartidge.
- : ;-))
-
- : This may or may not work either. I've never tried it myself. But I think
- : it is also worth trying if you have no other resort.
-
- : : When the ribbon does become worn out, a new ribbon can be
- : : special-ordered from Radio Shack for about $9.00 (their DMP-110 ribbon
- : : is the same ribbon the MPS-801 uses).
-
- : cool--
-
- : : Good luck and happy printing!

- : your MPS-801 ribbon ;-)) or at least clean your iron.

- I HAVE replaced a new ribbon into an old cartridge. Not really that hard --
- just tediously turning the little knob.
- 1. Open old cart. Remove old ribbon.
- 2. insert new ribbon through old cart. Close old cart.
- 3. Turn knob for-ever.
- 4. Open new cart to remove last of ribbon.
